Penn students joined the Baker Retail Trek to New York City for a day with leaders at the forefront of retail and real estate.
The day began with an engaging session led by Matt Seigel (C02), co-founder of Lantern Real Estate. A seasoned expert in retail and real estate, Matt shared his journey and insights on how the two sectors align, sparking a lively Q&A session with students.
Next, students visited GU, the sister brand to Uniqlo, which recently launched its first U.S. store in SoHo. Tetsuya Kitano, COO of Fast Retailing and GU US, provided an exclusive tour of the space and discussed their innovative visual merchandising strategies and U.S. market expansion.
The trek concluded at Warby Parker with a visit to their newly designed SoHo store, followed by a trip to their HQ. Students met with Kaki Mackey, VP of Communications, Wharton alums Courtney Guth (C10), VP of Merchandising, and Dan Torres (WG17), Sr. Director of FP&A. The day wrapped up with an inspiring session with Neil Blumenthal (WG10), co-founder and co-CEO of Warby Parker, who shared his career journey, Warby Parker’s mission and growth, and engaged students in an interactive discussion.
