Penn Fashion Week with Baker Retailing Center: Heather Kaminetsky — President, North America, Mytheresa.com

The Baker Retailing Center, in partnership with Penn Fashion Week, was proud to welcome Heather Kaminetsky, President of North America at Mytheresa.com, for an inspiring executive speaker event.

Heather Kaminetsky joined Mytheresa in 2021 to lead the luxury e-commerce platform’s expansion across the United States and Canada. Her first priority was establishing a dedicated, customer-facing US team, an essential move in one of Mytheresa’s most important growth markets. Today, she oversees all brand-facing efforts in North America, including Personal Shopping, Communications, and Affiliate Marketing.

Kaminetsky brings a rich background in fashion and digital retail. Her career includes senior roles at NET-A-PORTER (VP of Global Marketing), Borderfree (SVP of Business Management), Barneys New York (VP of Marketing), and most recently, CEO at M.Gemi.

Though she studied computer science, her career began at Barneys New York, where she was part of the team launching e-commerce in its earliest days. Under the mentorship of Simon Doonan, Kaminetsky developed a deep understanding of luxury, from warehouse operations to studio production. “I’m the worst photographer,” she laughed, “but I know exactly how far the camera needs to be from the model.”

Her journey continued through Net-a-Porter, the launch of her own luxury home brand Riley Home, and eventually to Mytheresa, after boldly cold-emailing the CEO during the pandemic. “You can always ask,” she said. “The worst they can say is no.”

At Mytheresa, Kaminetsky champions curation as a differentiator in a crowded market. “Luxury is an emotion. Our customers come to us because we give them back time, the biggest luxury of all,” she shared. Rather than overwhelm shoppers with endless options, Mytheresa presents a refined edit from 250 brands it believes in.

She also emphasized the importance of customer loyalty and selectivity, noting, “Luxury is a two-sided relationship. We invest in the customers who invest in us.”

Since entering the US market, Kaminetsky has helped grow Mytheresa through personalized service, immersive brand experiences, and a willingness to meet luxury consumers wherever they are, even in overlooked markets like Bentonville, Arkansas. “They value luxury just as much,” she said. “So we show up for them.”

From digital innovation to emotional connection, Heather Kaminetsky is helping shape the future of luxury retail, one curated experience at a time.
