Urban Outfitters, Inc. is an apparel company with a passion for "lifestyle merchandising".  Started in Philadelphia in 1970 as a single Urban Outfitters store offering eclectic merchandise, the company has grown into 3 main brands marketed in both the United States and Europe. 

Urban Outfitters, Inc. prides itself on its connection to its customers.  Each of its brands is linked to a different customer segment, and once the customer segment is chosen the brand looks to differentiate within that segment through a unique in-store experience and a creative mix of merchandise that usually involves both hard and soft goods.   The goal is always to create a compelling and distinct product assortment and environment that creates an emotional reaction in all customers.
