CHEESECAKE FACTORY INC.

The Cheesecake Factory was started in the late 1940s by Evelyn and Oscar Overton as a small shop selling cheesecakes in Detroit.  When the store was forced to close, wholesale operations continued out of the family home until the business was moved to Los Angeles in 1971.  With the move to L.A., demand grew quickly and operations expanded.  During the 1970s over 20 new cheesecake recipes were added to over 100 different wholesale accounts, and distribution grew rapidly to ecompass the area from Santa Barbara to San Diego.  In 1978 the first "Cheesecake Factory" restaurant was opened in Beverly Hills.  Now, the company operates and franchises its casual upscale restaurants under the Cheesecake Factory and Grand Lux names in over 30 states and maintains its high standards of quality by making almost all of its menu offerings on premesis using fresh ingredients.
