Schottenstein Stores Corporation is held privately by the Schottenstein family, and is the holding company for their retail assets.  Over the past several decades, the company has obtained ownership in several retail companies, most notably their 51% stake in Retail Ventures, Inc., the holding company for Filene's Basement and DSW Shoe Warehouses.  The family also owns the Value City department stores, located primarily in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, and retail liquidator SB Capital Group.  They also have a 15% stake in American Eagle Outfitters and own over 50 shopping centers.
